Musings For A Darkened Room

Google has unveiled it’s  Halloween logo for 2008!  I’m guessing it started an hour or so ago to coincide with East coast time since I didn’t notice it earlier this evening.  The creepy logo which features an array of carving tools for a pumpkin and a glowing jack-o-lantern has alt text which reads, “Happy Halloween! Doodle designed by Wes Craven”.  I think this is probably the most impressive Google holiday logo that I have seen in some time.  As a bonus the image links to the SERP for halloween 2008.  My excitement for this logo may stem from the fact that it mixes my love of Google and my love for Halloween, but regardless it’s still an impressive logo.  Happy Halloween everyone!

So my wife stumbled upon an article from last halloween that featured some fun Halloween novelties for adults. I checked out the sites and it looks like almost all of them are still available for purchase, so if you’re like me and everyday is Halloween in your world, why not bring Halloween to the bedroom!

Comdomania Online sells a Halloween Condom Assortment that features fun Halloween images on the packaging.

The company also offers condoms featuring the artwork of Los Angeles artist Coop, featuring some of his trademark devil charactures.

CondomDepot.com offers the Trustex orange and black condom which will clearly put your unit in the Halloween spirit.

The UK website FeelConfident brings out the little devil in you with the Fun Devil Condom, which features a devil head tip on it. This is sure to bring a sinful good time to the bedroom.

Finally, there is the Vampire condom. This condom is all black and it’s website even comes with a top ten reasons on why to use it. Nothing says Halloween or even Gothic for that matter like a Vampire. Their site also offers the “Vampires Only” thong panties for that lady who loves her creatures of the night…

Well with just 37 days left until Halloween I finally have our music playlist for the Halloween party 99% complete. I am sure there will be more to add over the next few weeks after I get into our storage unit and get a few more CD’s out, but I think for the most part it’s complete. This year’s theme is VERY gothic and thus so is the music. With a nice mix of Goth, Dark Wave, EBM, and Electro it should keep everybody moving the night of the party. Well it’s officially here, the start of my favorite Holiday season. For most the Halloween craze doesn’t set in until about mid-September, but for many Halloween enthusiasts like myself the Halloween excitement starts in July. Many retailers begin stocking their shelves with creepy and crawly merchandise in mid to late July. I began my search at the beginning of the month, but it looks like many of the retailers I usually hit early are off to a slow start this year.

Michael’s has again beat the competition by putting out their Halloween merchandise before anyone else. In fact a friend of mine who work’s for the company says that her store put out it’s Halloween merchandise on the 4th of July. That’s my kind of patriotism! Misty and I already grabbed up most of the merchandise we really liked. I am a bit torn as to whether or not I am that impressed with their stock this year. I was quite fond of the fact that many of their Halloween signs this year were witch related, but overall their selection was slim and really lacking anything that truly caught my interest. The only other purchases we may be making are a set of bobblehead Trick-or-Treaters and a few more signs. Here are some pictures of the items we did decide to purchase.

Of course we also did our annual purchase of Lemax SpookyTown products. The only problem is that over the years we have bought so many of their products we don’t remember which one’s we have, so we have been really cautious as to what we purchase until we can take a trip to our storage unit and break out the Halloween boxes.

We also started our search for this year’s Halloween Costumes. We are hosting our Second Annual Monsters Ball, festively named “The Dance Macabre”. We are going with a very dark and very gothic theme this year. Castles, Candelabra’s, and everything else dark and sexy you can think of.
