I found out this evening through a friend on Myspace that Scott Russo, the lead singer of the band Unwritten Law, lost his San Diego home to a fire late last night. It’s reported that Russo, his parents, and his 3 kids, which lived in the home, lost everything including family pets. Fortunately Russo and his family were able to escape the blaze unharmed, but they are now left with nothing.
In a quote from the band’s Myspace blog Russo says, “I am at a complete loss for words, my entire family is now homeless, all our pets are dead and all our earthly possessions are gone. In these tough times, my family had been out of work, and the financial burden was too heavy for me to afford home insurance. I’m left with nothing in this world except my family, friends and band, who I’m very thankful are ok. The support from my friends has been overwhelming.”
San Diego’s 10News.com reports that, the fire may have been accidentally started by an electric heater that Russo’s daughter had on while she was in the shower; though the official cause is still being investigated.
This is a band I have been a fan of for many years, going as far back as the release of Blue Room in 1995, and I want to get the word out because I know that even though America is in a financial crisis many of us are still better off than others and can help. Donations to aid Russo and his family are being accepted via PayPal and by mail. To access the PayPal information you can visit the band’s myspace page and check and money order donations can be sent to the following address:
