It seems like the only "Green" involved in their hosting was bilking you out of money.

Richard, you're the second person I've had mention the DreamHost purchase to me in the last couple of months. I had some woman from another hosting company contact me about it earlier this month trying to get me to switch over to them.

ThinkHost had a good thing going in my opinion in terms of the whole 'Green Web Hosting', but they didn't have a reliable product and they didn't have reliable support. For almost the first year I was with ThinkHost I had no phone support. All problems had to be reported through their ticket system and many times when my site was down, so was their site or their ticket system.

Now that HostGator is green I am happy going to them. I have worked with them in the past and haven't had any issues with them thus far.

John, you bring up some great points, but in all honesty I saw the $27 as the cost of not having to deal with the hassle. If they hadn't been willing to budge and kept up the talk of the $87.75 you bet your ass I would have done every last thing you mentioned, but for $27 it just wasn't worth anymore time and hassle.

ThinkHost sold out to DreamHost a few months ago so this entire question is moot. I would advise everyone on ThinkHost to "rethink" their situation and bail now that they are no longer operated by the ponzi scheme scheisters.

Mike,

While the TOS may have said "In Advance" I would have still declined to pay even the settlement offer they made you. They don't have a live card on file so the only thing they are going to do is send your account to a collections agency... or would they? It costs money to do that and hardly worth the time.

If it did go that far though I'd argue on two fronts:

#1. I never received a copy of the TOS so have no record of what it is I read a year ago or what it is telling me now.

#2. I didn't use the services of which they are trying to bill me in advance for and therefore have not collected any type of goods for the money they are asking from me.

The bottom line in my book is that I'd deal with the hassle of fighting them before I paid them. Perhaps I'm stubborn.

btw... I wish I paid 80 for six months of hosting. I currently am paying $55 every month but don't have to deal with little crap like that.
