Because I’m An Idiot…

Ok so today was supposed to be my first day back to work now that my foot has healed. Well it would have been, until I discovered what an idiot I am. As part of the solution to fixing my injury the doctor suggested more padding in my shoes, so this weekend Misty and I went out and bought some nice padded insoles for my work shoes. Knowing I had to get up early today I made sure to put the insoles in the shoes yesterday. However, there’s a twist in the story. I got up this morning and put my shoes on only to notice that my right shoe felt really tight. I figured that it was perhaps because my right foot is slightly bigger than my left and figured after I walked in them for a while they’d start to feel more comfortable. Well they didn’t and when I got to work I discovered why. As I stepped out of my car and looked down I discovered the reason my right foot was so uncomfortable was because I was wearing a totally different shoe than the left…My work shoes are both black leather Sketchers and their only difference is that one has stitching across the top of the toe. Apparently I wasn’t paying very close attention yesterday because I put an insole in the right shoe of one pair and the left shoe of another. Not only did I miss it then, but I missed it this morning when I put on my shoes. It wasn’t until I stepped out of my car and looked down that I discovered the right shoe was a completely different shoe than the left. Luckily only one person noticed at work so I didn’t look like a complete ass and since that person knew I was out on medical leave for my foot he really didn’t question it much either. I left three hours into my shift and fibbed a little saying I had a follow up appointment for my foot. The truth was I looked like an ass with two different shoes, and since the right shoe is one size smaller than the left it was uncomfortable as hell with the insole in it. The moral of the story? Never put insoles in shoes while in a dimly lit room, and never put your shoes on in the dark…

In other exciting news, Misty and I made our pumpkin sugar cookies tonight that we got at Home Goods. They turned out pretty good. And I finally got a haircut after about a month and a half without one. Misty says my hair was so long and wild that I started to look like Doc from Back to the Future. GREAT SCOTT!

So I keep saying that I am going to post some scans of our save the date card and invitation…I finally did it today. Under the cut is a scan of our Save the Date card, our Inviation cover, and the inside of our invitation. I blurred out part of the names to protect the innocent as well as location of the wedding. Enjoy!

It’s Like A Vacation, But Not…

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Mike Wilton on 22-09-2004

So this past weekend was a lot of fun. We went to Disneyland on Saturday and spent the day doing a whole lot of nothing really. We rode only one ride and spent the rest of the day window shopping, eating, and pin trading. Good times to be had by all. Sunday was another wedding day. We spent all day searching for a tiara and jewelry, but went home empty handed. The one tiara we did find and liked was at Icing, but was missing pearls on it. Suck! So you’d think overall the outcome would be a good one…wrong. As a result of spending all weekend on my feet I wound up suffering from metatarsalagia again….What is metatarsalagia you ask? It’s an inflammation of the joints in the foot that is very uncomfortable and feels like a sprain. What’s the cure you ask? 5 days off my feet, ice, and 800mg Ibuprofen. The nice thing is that it’s like a vacation since I don’t have to work, but unfortunately I’m not getting paid either. So Monday and Tuesday I worked only partial days and then went to the doctor to find out what to do. The rest of this week I’ll be sitting at home doing nothing. Today I rolled out of bed around noon, ate lunch, took a shower, took Misty to the dentist, went to Misty’s grandma’s house, went to Home Goods, went to Misty’s moms, went to Stater Brothers to buy milk, and then came home to sit on the computer for a while. All in all I can’t complain. Tomorrow I have a whole lot of nothing planned and Misty is supposed to make cookies. Yummy! Oh yeah and we bought spiced apple cider and an awesome witch figurine that says, “Can you smell what the witch is cookin’? on the side. Very ammusing. Maybe tomorrow I’ll finally post up wedding stuff for all to see since I’ll have all day to scan pictures.
