Vampires, Scrapbooking, and Daring to Dream

So I spent the last thirty minutes reading about Vampire: The Masquerade. A guy at work was talking about it and I thought I’d see what it was all about. I never really understood RPG’s, the whole D&D thing never made sense to me. Is it basically a bunch of people getting together and acting? I’d really like to see one of these events, it intrigues me. Before my “vampire hunting”, if you will I was searching e-bay for pretty much anything and everything. Nightmare Before Christmas Pins, Haunted Mansion Pins, Johnny Lightning “Frightening Lightning” cars, Buffy stuff, Movie Maniacs figures, even some Elvira stuff. It amazes me how much great stuff is out there on E-bay to buy. By the way if my spelling blows it’s probably cuz I am on the verge of exhaustion, yet I can’t sleep…Anyways I found some great stuff and realized I am going to need a whole room in my house dedicated to horror collectibles and memorabilia. I want all the Buffy action figures, the Elvira action figures, all that good stuff. I just love it! So I’m a horror geek, what can I say. I got to stay home from work today, they didn’t need me and gave me the day off. I spent about 75% of my day cleaning. It was worth it though, our room looks great now. It gave me the chance to put a bunch of stuff in the garage instead of just wherever in the room. I have about 2 boxes worth of CD’s to get rid of though. It’ll be nice, I just hope Second Spin has a decent goth/industrial selection. I know their website has some, but I’m not sure that the store in Newport Beach will have much of a selection. I’ll probably post a list at some point this week just in case any crazy kids on the net want to buy them before Second Spin does. My only other option is to take the CD’s down to “Sounds Like…” since I know they have an ok Goth/Industrial used and new section. The only problem with them is that they tend to be picky about the CD’s and give you diddly squat for them…Oh well, we’ll see what happens.

Tomorrow Misty and I are going to swing by a scrapbooking store up the street just to see what they have. We’re really tight on money right now and have to take Joe the rent money tomorrow. Thank god that’s finally over with. Now we can focus on our budget, get ourselves out of debt, and after the wedding finally move out on our own again.

Last night I had an odd dream. I was at a store similar to Target, and it must have been around Halloween. They had amazing displays for their Halloween merchandise. The store was done up so well that the ceiling was painted black and had little fiber-optic lights for stars. It was as though you were surrounded by the night even though you were inside a store. I was browsing through all the merchandise that for some reason was all either on sale or clearanced. I found item after item I loved, I remember in particular from my dream a black tree decoration with an evil face. I don’t know why I was so intrigued by this item, but I was. As I continued through the store I caught up with Misty who was strangely enough walking through the store with Joe. I asked her to come see the tree decoration and as we were walking back to the display with the tree decoration we saw two women folding up beautiful cardboard displays. I overheard one of the women say, “…they said just go ahead and take what you want.” I then turned to the woman and asked her if the store was giving away it’s displays. It turned out the store was letting customers take as many of the displays as they wished. Misty and I went up to the checkout counter where we verified that the store was indeed giving away it’s displays. This is where the dream got weird…

After asking the girl at the counter, another employee got on a microphone and made an announcement that the store would be closing in fifteen minutes. Misty and I rushed to find the perfect display. I had remembered an intricate haunted cast display near the entrance of the store that I really admired. We hurried towards the front of the store to try and find it, but then half way there all of the lights went out. Everyone in the store suddenly dashed for displays to take home. Misty and I seemed to be the only ones not moving. We looked around and saw person after person snatching the displays like vultures. It almost felt as if the population of customers in the store tripled. We ran towards the castle display and just as we reached it the girl behind the counter stepped out from behind it. Her eyes were yellow, much like Michael Jackson’s in the end of the video for Thriller. The only bad part is that I woke up right at this point. I have no clue what the dream meant, all I know is that it was fuckin’ strange as hell. However, after I told Misty about the dream she brought up a good point. We should start scoping out store displays early in the Halloween season and see if we can have them after the Holiday is over.

Good Game

So this week has been a good week for the most part. I only worked about 28 hours, which gave me some nice down time to kinda relax. Thursday night my Dad and I went to a hockey games. It was the Kings vs. the Devils, which is always a good match up. The only thing different this time was in between the second and third period my Dad’s friend Todd got us in to the V.I.P restaurant. I wasn’t too pleased with this part of the night. We basically sat at a table and watched the game while a bunch of the execs, rich people, and players wives ate dinner around us. Granted the view was much nicer from this area, but it wasn’t the hockey experience I have grown to love over the years. Perhaps the only cool part about the restaurant was that we were sitting at the table next to Kings player Kipp Brennan (I think that’s how you spell his name) Anyways, after watching the first 15 minutes of the third period we made our way down to The Wives area. This is a little lounge where the players wives can watch the game on TV if they wish rather than in the arena. After waiting around for 20 minutes or so we went out to the player tunnel where all the players exit. There I saw about a dozen players and coaches and even got a few autographs on my Kings jersey. (Luc Robataile, Ian Laperiere, coach Andy Murray, to name a few) I’m not usually one to get star struck but it was really amazing seeing people like Dave Taylor, Ziggy Pallfy, and Luc Robataile, since I have grown up watching them play hockey.

Friday I went out and did some shopping and picked up a couple of new video games. I picked up Freaky Flyers for PS2 and Jim Hensons Muppet Party Cruise for Gamecube. Misty and I wound up playing the Muppet game that night until about 2 a.m. Talk about addicting…

Saturday Misty and I head out to OC to do some shopping. I was trying to find a Jack Skellington watch at Hot Topic that I had been wanting, but unfortunately neither the Riverside or Brea Hot Topic have it in stock. Instead I settled for the coffin shaped watch with the spiderweb face, it was the watch I had initially wanted a few months back but refrained from buying it since Rick had beat me to the purchase. We also went by my company store and picked out some outfits for our niece and even splurged a little and got a Nightmare Before Christmas Sally ornament and mini snowglobe. You can’t beat something that is 75% that initially sold for $15.50. We’re going back in a few weeks since the Sally sculpture we have been wanting is also 75% off, and is normally ninety-five dollars. After that we finally made it to the movies to see the newest Tim Burton film “Big Fish”. This is perhaps one of the best movies I have seen since Pirates of the Caribbean. I loved this movie! If you haven’t seen it I suggest you hurry out and see it before it leaves theaters. During the previews before “Big Fish” we saw the trailer for a new movie with Johnny Depp in it that looks really good. It’s a thriller called “The Secret Window” (I think…) Apparently Johnny Depp plays a writer who is writing a story that has already been written by some man named Shooter. The guy starts going all crazy and starts stalking people and what not while Johnny Depp’s character is trying to figure out what it is Shooter wants. Not to sure what the whole basis of the movie is, but I think it will be another great role for Depp.
That night we tagged along with Rick to celebrate X’s birthday. It was an interesting night. As usual for X’s shindigs it split up into about three sub groups and everyone kinda did their own thing. Regardless it was free pizza and free booze, so who’s gonna complain?

Today we went with my Dad to my grandma’s house to give her our old washing machine. It was kind of a waste for us to go down there with him since I hardly helped unload the thing. We stayed just until my Dad and my uncle got it all squared away and then we took off. We came home and played some more Muppet party as we did laundry. Joe dropped off the 30 day notice form for the apartment for us to sign. Thank god that is going to finally be over. He also brought over a few pictures of Misty and I that we had requested, hopefully Nicole will find more than we can have or make copies of. We then went to Misty’s parents for a delicious Chimichanga dinner and then returned home for yet more Muppets, and now here I am. Tired, thirsty as hell, and ready to end this and go to bed.

Good night!

When You’re Desperate Get Girly

So I made the most amazing discovery the other morning that will help any guy that uses a Gillette Mach 3 razor. I had run out of blades and the one I was using had become so dull it was irritating my face, so I tested a theory. My fiance uses the Gillette Venus, looking at the two I noticed how the locking mechanism looked identical so I decided to see if the Venus head would fit on the Mach 3. Sure enough it did, and for the last two days I have been using it. Not to mention the Venus razor works just as well as the Mach 3. So next time you run out of razors and don’t have time to run to the store borrow your girlfriends Venus razor guys, they work just as well. I wouldn’t suggest girls borrowing the Mach 3 however since I don’t think it is made to really well for shaving legs. You’d probably be better off with hairy legs for a couple days rather than have cuts all over them.
